KENT BUSINESS CLEANS UP WITH TOP AWARD A Kent man who started up a new business when most people are considering retirement has won a national award in recognition of his outstanding success. Ian Allman, 61, has taken turnover from zero to £60,000 in just two years since taking on a franchise for cleaning products and hygiene specialists Chemex. Now Ian has beaten off competition from 90 other franchisees to be chosen as the company’s most outstanding franchisee. The award reflects Ian’s performance, innovation and excellence of service. Ian’s business is based in Maidstone and covers a large part of Kent including Dover, Canterbury and Ramsgate with customers in a wide range of industry sectors including food companies, restaurants, residential care homes and garages. Sean Derrig, Chief Executive of Chemex said; “Ian thoroughly deserves this award he is building an excellent business based on great service and customer care and is a wonderful example of how to be successful in business.” Ian, who is married to Carolle Ann and has four children, said: ”I think a few people were surprised when I started the business at an age when many are thinking of taking life a bit easier but that has never been my style. “I worked for 35 years in the motor industry with half of that time in sales and I just really enjoy meeting people and being able to provide them with advice and support to help their businesses. “Chemex isn’t just about selling cleaning products we provide a full range of advice and consultancy on health and safety and hygiene matters delivered free as part of our service. “It is formula that works and I am now picking up a great deal of repeat business and new sales from personal recommendations and gaining a great deal of job satisfaction along the way.” Chemex Kent can be contacted on 07918 155860
